Linton Elementary School Annual Title One Informational Meeting 2017-18

AGENDA Title One Informational Meeting Sept. 12, 2017 6:30 p.m What is Title One? What makes Linton Elementary a Title One school? What makes up a Title One school? What should I expect to see? How has Linton spent the federal money? How has my child benefited?

What is Title One? Northside ISD participates in the Federal Title I Program which provides federal money for programs “to meet the special educational needs of children in school attendance areas with a high concentration of children from low-income families and for children in institutions for neglected children”. Programs such as pre-kindergarten, reading and math programs, tutoring, staff development, and family nights are funded through title one.

Eligibility Requirements Linton Elementary has 84% of enrolled students as economically disadvantaged. Amount qualifies Linton to receive funding. Every child at Linton is eligible to receive Title One services. Linton is classified as a school-wide Title One school.

Title One School-wide Components Comprehensive Needs Assessment School-wide strategies to increase quality and amount of academics received. Highly qualified teachers and substitutes. Ongoing professional development. Policies to attract highly qualified teachers. Strategies to increase parental involvement. Plans to assist preschool children transition. Measures to include teachers in decision making. Provide additional activities for assistance of struggling students. Coordination and integration of Federal, State and Local Services and programs.

What should I expect to see? Parent Involvement Policy sent home each year. Parent/Teacher/Student Compact Reviewed. Notification of Yearly Title One Informational Meeting.

How has Linton Elementary used the extra funding? Additional materials and supplies (manipulatives, intervention materials, software, etc.) and leveled books to support our Guided Reading Program. Additional staffing consisting of 1 reading specialists, 1-math specialist On going staff development. After school tutoring and family nights

How does my child benefit? Increased Resources + Increased Staffing Increased Materials and Supplies = Increased Learning Opportunities
