GIRLS BASKETBALL: Huron gets strange win; SMCC routs Jefferson NEW BOSTON – Both scorebooks showed the 42-42. But the scoreboard showed New Boston Huron girls basketball’s basketball team had a 43-42 lead when the game ended Monday night. The discrepancy between the scoreboard and the scorebooks was not discovered until the officials had left the floor. So the game will go down as a win for Huron. The Jets held a 13-point lead with four minutes left, but Sophia Dimilia scored 7 of her team-high 12 points in the final period to lead a Huron comeback. Ava Dimilia added 11 points for Huron. Airport (10-2) got 15 points from Emily Swiercz and 13 from Hadley Gratz.

Jurisdiction of Officials / Begins / Ends Rule 2-3 Art 2: The officials’ jurisdiction, prior to the game, begins when they arrive on the floor. The officials’ arrival on the floor shall be a least 15 minutes before the scheduled starting time of the game. Rule 2-3 Art 4: The jurisdiction of the officials is terminated and the final score has been approved when all officials leave the visual confines of the playing area.

Intentional Fouls Officials Must Enforce Rules If All Officials Enforce this Rule Knowledgably, Confidently, and Consistently from the Beginning of the Season . . . > the Expectation will be Set > the Coaches and Players will Adjust > the Aim of the POE will be Met

Know the rule 4-19-Art. 3 An intentional foul is a personal or technical foul that may or may not be premeditated and is not based solely on the severity of the act. Intentional fouls include, but are not limited to: Contact that neutralizes an opponent’s obvious advantageous position. Contact away from the ball with an opponent who is clearly not involved with a play. Contact that is not a legitimate attempt to play the ball/player specifically designed to stop the clock or keep it from starting. Excessive contact with an opponent while the ball is live or until an airborne shooter returns to the floor. Contact with a thrower-in as in 9-2-10 PENALTY 4 The opponent(s) of the thrower shall not have any part of his/her person through the inbounds side of the throw-in boundary-line UNTIL the ball has been released on a throw-in pass.
