06 11 10.40 Rough Framing, Walls Walls are one of the most important parts of a structure, therefore wall framing is one of the most important activity’s of the construction process. Beside the obvious reasons that make walls important (e.g. supporting the roof, exterior materials, and etc.) there is also the fact that many other activities of the construction process can not proceed until completion of the framing. Every project is different so the duration and quantity of framing will depend on the size of the project. Figure 2.1. 06 11 10.30 Rough Framing, Roof Roof framing is a very important component of the building system. A strong roof helps protect the structure and it’s occupants during bad and extreme weather conditions. Also, the roof protects all internal components of the structure which are usually vulnerable to moisture. Figure 3.2 Roof Framing Source: http://renovatemyspace.com Figure 3.1. 06 16 36.10 0030 Roof Decking Aside from the roof framing the next important part of a roof is the decking. The decking is what the external material of the roof will attach to. Roof decking is very diverse and the type of roof decides what type of decking to apply. Roof Decking is also very crucial in making the roof more rigid and structural sound. Figure 4.1. 07 31 13.10 0800 Roofing Felt Roofing felt is key in keeping moisture out of a structure. Felting has many applications but it is primary used with shingles and roofing of that nature. Figure 5.1. 07 31 13.10 0150 Shingles Roofing shingles are an external material used on a roof to protect a structure from moisture. Shingles are used mostly in residential construction. Shingles are only one type of external roofing material. Figure 6.2 Shingles Source: http://tigger.uic.edu Figure 6.1. Shingles Source: http://media.rd.com Ramey

09 21 16.33 0500 Gypsum Board Gypsum Board is a type of material that is used underneath the exterior wall. It’s primary function is insulating a structure. Figure 7.2. Gypsum Board Source: http://www.homeconstructionimprovement.com Figure 7.1. Gypsum Board Source: http://building.dow.com Ramey

09 68 10.10 Flooring Flooring has many functions but its main function is aesthetics. There are multiple floor types for every application. Figure 8.1 Flooring Source: http://farm3.static.flickr.com Figure 8.2. Flooring Source: http://www.ukflooring4less.com Ramey
