Rest Duration A Whole Rest receives four full beats.

Half Rest A half rest receives two full beats. – This means that two half rests is equal to one whole rest. 2 beats + 2 beats = 4 beat rest

Quarter Rest Quarter rests receive one full beat. This means that two quarter rests equal one half rest.

Eighth Rest Eighth rest receive half of a beat. This means that two eighth rests equal one quarter rest.
