Presentation transcript:

Design Process for Engineering

Design Process Immersion Identify the Problem Develop Specifications Conceptualize Plan and Select Materials Produce Evaluate and Test Modify Reflect

Immersion The preparation to plunge into the problem with every ounce of effort until the objective is completed. Design and Innovation!!

Identify the Problem Clarify Task Develop a Description in Great Detail Research for Current Solutions

Develop Specifications Identify Functional Requirements Identify Constraints

Conceptualize Analyze and Develop Sub-systems Evaluate Ideas Against Specifications Make Preliminary Sketches Evaluate and Refine Select Best Idea

Plan and Select Materials Identify Materials and the properties which are required

Produce Devise a system, process or component to meet the desired need

Evaluate and Test Objectively evaluate and test the prototype against the specifications in the design brief.

Modify Alter the system, process, or component to ensure it is as simple as possible and completely satisfies the design brief.

Reflect Seriously think about the results of the design brief and their present and future implications. Contemplate the results obtained; is it as good as it can be?
