Change Management What is change management? The management of change and development within a business or similar organisation. Change management is an approach to transition individuals, teams and organisations to a desired future state. How are you going to transfer learnings from today and change your club to make it a better club.

‘Change is the only constant’ Greek Philosopher. 535-475BC Clubs need to change to stay relevant. How people are consuming sport is changing.

REASons for change What are influencers on change? Political – tax policy/legislation Economic – interest rates Trends – consumer attitudes Technology innovations – introduction of the internet Financial i.e. lack of money For example 1 billion less letters posted in 2014 than in 2007-largely because of increase of email, social media, the internet.

The innovation adoption curve of Rogers is a model that classifies adopters of innovations into various categories, based on the idea that certain individuals are inevitably more open to adaptation than others. Innovators (2.5%) – brave, pulling change, important communication tools Early Adopters (13.5%) – respected, leaders, try new ideas but in careful way Early Majority (34%) – thoughtful, careful, accept change more quickly than average Late Majority (34%) – skeptic, only try new things once majority are doing it Laggard (16%) – traditional people, caring of old ways, critical of new ideas, only accept change if it becomes mainstream

You don’t know what is possible if you don’t try….. Don’t bite off more than you can chew. Baby steps.
