Monroe Doctrine

Summary of Monroe Doctrine Paragraph 1- Europe and the US have met to discuss that the United States should not be colonized by Europe any more in the future Paragraph 2- US is not involved in conflict with the Spanish & Portuguese still in Central/South America. However, any expansion by these nations or regaining of independent nations is considered a threat to the US. Paragraph 3- US has stayed out of the conflicts between Europe and tries to remain friendly with Europe. However, the US is concerned that Europe will not follow the same idea. Paragraph 4- Any European nation should not think to expand their power, control or influence into the Western Hemisphere . The countries/people of North/South America will be left alone by the US as long as the US is left alone

Summary of the Monroe Doctrine MAIN IDEA- The Monroe Doctrine stated that the American continents are not to be colonized by European powers in the future. The United States will remain neutral to existing European colonies in America, but strongly opposes the creation of new ones especially regaining any of the Hispanic American republics that recently gained independence. The Monroe Doctrine revealed that any further efforts of countries from Europe to colonize land in North or South America would be regarded as acts of aggression and as such requires American intervention.
