Enabling children and young people to access the digital world creatively, knowledgeably and fearlessly MT: What is 5Rights? UK-wide initiative aimed to enable C & YP to access the digital world creatively, knowledgeably and fearlessly April last year: Young Scot was announced as the lead strategic partner in Scotland for 5Rights Aim to promote the use of the 5Rights Framework Aim to grow the 5Rights Coalition in Scotland Already aware of the risks and challenges to young people online. Things like: - An invasion of privacy, Identity theft, Easily accessible adult content In protecting our young people from these, we can undermine the huge potential that technology has to benefit and empower our young people Tool: used right, enables exercise their rights 5Right: address balance, YP to enjoy, in equal measure, their rights to Protection, Provision, and Participation – as listed in the UNCRC 5Rights framework: set of 5 principles Reflects the rights embodied in the UNCRC UNCRC - same age as me, 1989
