WEIGH-IN / declarations 11/20/2018 WEIGH-IN / declarations Before sending animal through the scales please have weigh-in / sale declaration card filled out with: Intention to run market animal through sale. Exhibitor Name / School / FFA/4H. Market animal and intention to sale. Species Ear Tag Forms will be available at Olivia’s office or that afternoon of weigh in. Please do not wait to fill them out when weighing animal.

If a buyer can’t be secured contact W.D. “Bully” Bulloch, David Huval, Ag Teacher or 4H representative PRIOR TO THE SALE. Pre-register your buyer whenever possible. Submit signed proxy forms. Submit to your teacher, LSU Ag office or email to gabby@davidhuvalstrucking.com (Treasurer) Make the process clear to your buyer. (Showing animal through district and/or state; approximately how long the process takes.) Animal processing procedures, processing fees. (Buyer is typically responsible; however, that is between you and your buyer. In addition, make clear approximately how much processing fees are). ADD-ON’S are a great way to sell a larger price for your livestock. Also, it helps people who are not in the market for buying a whole animal participate.
11/20/2018 Sale Night It is the exhibitors responsibility to be in line and ready to exhibit the livestock. If you can’t be at the sale make sure you have a substitute before the sale and notify the person in charge of line-up. Exhibitors wear show attire. Please notify your buyers they have the option of taking a picture immediately after you are finished in the auction ring.
Care and feeding of livestock 11/20/2018 Care and feeding of livestock Once you’re complete showing your livestock you MUST feed your livestock for a minimum of 2-3 weeks after. This ensures better meat quality. If STPJLA receives a complaint from processors with proof that livestock have not been fed properly or consistent complaints from buyers - you will be banned from future sales. MEAT QUALITY is important for future sales.
11/20/2018 PROCESSING It is the exhibitor’s responsibility to make an appointment with the processor. It is exhibitor’s (family) responsibility to make sure livestock have been paid for before delivering the meat. It is the exhibitor’s (family) responsibility to deliver livestock to the processor and again to retrieve and deliver meat to the buyer. Help assist treasurer in collection of invoice.
EXHIBITOR APPRECIATION 11/20/2018 EXHIBITOR APPRECIATION Sending thank you cards to all buyers is a must and the exhibitor must show the treasurer, LSU Ag rep or another STPJLA official copies of the cards. Taking a picture and texting or scanning and emailing the cards is an acceptable method of proof.
