IB Psychology 2.1.18 Turn in: Nothing Take out: Paper/Notes Writing Implements Device? Today’s Learning Objectives: I can create a tool that can be useful for me in the future. Today’s Agenda: Overview of Socio- Cultural Level of Analysis HW: Define our terms…prepare to drink from the firehose…

Let’s Define Our Foundation: Please use the Links on my website first… if not able to find the term there, then explore (be sure to define in terms of psych as best we can!) WATS: Definitions are great, but sometimes difficult to apply…as you’re defining—attempt to describe what it might “look like…”

Let’s Define Our Foundation: WATS: Definitions are great, but sometimes difficult to apply…as you’re defining—attempt to describe what it means and/or might “look like…” (i.e. “Abstract Modeling”) Definition: a way of learning skills and behaviors by the indirect observation of others. A major component of Albert Bandura's Social Cognitive Theory (SCT), abstract modeling occurs (often unconsciously) when a person observes another person's behaviors or actions and learns the skill. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0wXnqI1Onc

Let’s Define Our Foundation: Some additional Terms (some might be familiar…) for the movie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXc5ltzKq3Y Attitudes Memory Bystander effect Motivation Change of representation Nature/Nurture Confirmation Bias Obedience Conformity Perception Heuristics Persuasion Availability heuristics Prejudice Representative heuristics Psychodynamic Homeostasis Reaction time
