How to align lightlever optics Mirror bracket Clamp screw Access hole LightLever Pickoff tube mounted above prism box
Pickoff tube pieces pickoff tube lens lens slider wrench mirror bracket
To inspect optics, first loosen clamp screw with 3/32” hex key
Remove pickoff tube Be careful not to touch pellicle against edge of hole
Inspect pellicle Film should be flat and smooth Remove dirt with puff of air Do not touch film with fingers or brush
Remove mirror bracket with 0.035” hex key (0.9 mm)
Use wrench to remove slider Twist and pull
Inspect lens for dirt
Reassemble pickoff tube Be careful tube is not twisted in mount
Place pickoff back into hole Be careful not to touch pellicle against edge of hole
Align mirror bracket straight up/down and tighten clamp screw
Remove mirror bracket
so bare tube is sticking out
Turn on trap laser and adjust control rods so that trap focus is in middle of TV screen
Place IR indicator card 9” away from end of tube Wear laser goggles to protect your eyes
Beam should focus to a point 9”distant and 5” above the table Fake spot shown Real spot not so bright
Move lens slider in/out with wrench to adjust 9” focal distance
Loosen clamp screw and pull pickoff tube in/out to adjust 5” focal height but do not rotate tube which changes twist of pellicle
Beam spot moves Up/Down when pickoff tube slides In/Out Make spot 5” above table slide tube in/out
Tighten clamp screw and replace mirror bracket
Place IR detector card inside instrument head Spot should be visible near position detector Fake spot shown here Real spot not so bright
If spot is not visible try twisting position of mirror bracket until you see spot on card
Adjust LightLever mirror screws with 5/64” (2mm) hex wrench
so as to put beam inside PSD target
Move beam up/down and right/left using control rods
Problem : Strange triangle pattern in LL window Problem : Strange triangle pattern in LL window. Solution: Be sure spot passes through middle of TV screen and adjust light-lever mirror screws to center spot on PSD target
Now spot is centered on detector so pattern moves up/down and right/left with control rods
If pattern is tilted more than 10 degrees try twisting pellicle relative to mirror
The End
