AELP Update 16th November 2017 Cheryl Swales 07854497435 cswales@aelp.org.uk @cheryl_swales Important for AELP to hear about any issues – providers to keep feeding back through network or direct to cswales@aelp.org.uk

Apprenticeship Reforms - Doing nothing is not an option! AELP calling for two simple actions: No employer contribution towards 16 – 24 year old apprenticeships at non-levy paying employers, or at employers that have exceeded their levy Introduce flexibility to the 20% off the job rule

New Annual Apprenticeship Conference Awards 2018 Six main categories, for regional winners (North, South, Midlands and London & East: Engineering and Manufacturing Apprenticeship Provider of the Year Business and Administrative Apprenticeship Provider of the Year Social Care, Childcare and Education Apprenticeship Provider of the Year Construction Apprenticeship Provider of the Year Sales, Marketing and Procurement Apprenticeship Provider of the Year Digital Apprenticeship Provider of the Year Apprenticeship Provider of the Year Apprentice Employer of the Year Regional winners will be shortlisted for National Awards…..

New Annual Apprenticeship Conference Awards 2018 Overall national award winners will be announced at the AAC awards on Thursday 22nd March 2018 at the ICC in Birmingham, plus two other national awards: Outstanding Contribution to the Development of Apprenticeships (individual) Outstanding Contribution to the Development of Apprenticeships (employer or provider) Details on the nomination process will be available soon, with nominations closing in early January 2018. AELP members receive 40% off delegate tickets, contact the cswales@aelp.org.uk for further information

Fair Funding for Functional Skills We need evidence! AELP is asking all large and medium providers to calculate what it actually costs to deliver a Functional Skill and share it with AELP Two free costing models available to standardise the approach to calculating the cost of your FS delivery Calculations will be anonymised and kept strictly confidential To access the costing models please email Cath Gladding, AELP Research Manager, at cgladding@aelp.org.uk or enquiries@aelp.org.uk

Ofqual consultation on Functional Skills – still open Ofqual are keen for AELP members to engage with and participate in their current consultation on regulating reformed Functional Skills in English and maths.  Full information can be found on this link with the consultation response pages themselves available here. The closing date is 22nd November 2017.

Digital Skills Workshop – Network Offer! A blended model of provision, combining face to face with digital online and offline content, will bring many efficiencies to a provider’s delivery model and will benefit employers who are looking for flexibility and cost effectiveness in their delivery partners. In addition learners will benefit from engaging and interactive learning resources that develop their digital capability to enable them to embrace the technology used in the workplace. We are delighted to be able to offer this workshop to regional networks to run in house at a reduced price of £1000 for 16 delegates and AELP will cover the cost of the venue and catering. These workshops are normally £100 per delegate so this is a saving of £600 and works out at just £62.50pp!!!!!   ***This opportunity is only available to 8 networks and will be prioritised on a first come first served basis***

Thank you! Any questions?
