Feed the People – Emergency need in Africa Due to persistent conflict, severe drought and economic instability several countries in Africa face the risk of famine in 2017 The Famine Early Warning System Network (FEWS NET) is an agency supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) informs us that: Militant extremist are causing displacement of populations Limiting market activity and Restricting normal livelihoods Emergency food assistance needs during 2017 is unprecedented in recent decades: Estimated 70 million people across 45 countries require emergency food assistance this year According to FEWS Net more than 40 million people in Africa are facing food insecurity and in some case, outright starvation Feed the People
