Peter brought me to UVA today Peter brought me to UVA today. I asked him if he thought it was bad luck for me to be there before I actually get in but he just joked about it. It was easy for him to say, he gave a verbal commitment to the UVA lacrosse team last year and he applied early action in fall. But that moment with Peter, was amazing. God, please, please let met get into UVA.

I applied for five schools I applied for five schools. At first it was just going to be UVA, the hardest to get into and only fifteen minutes from home; William and Mary, the second hardest to get into and also my second choice (two hours away); and then University of Richmond and James-Madison, both only an hour away, in a tie for third choice. Mrs. Duvall than urged me to apply one out-of-state school, just in case, so applied to University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It’s really hard to get into out-of-states, but I picked it because it reminds me of UVA. But if I had a choice, I would still pick UVA every time.

I’ve been baking cookies for the past few days I’ve been baking cookies for the past few days. Kitty and Peter love them. But Daddy thinks I’m stressed waiting for the college acceptance letters. He read a study that found that baking is actually therapeutic. But he maybe right, I couldn’t fall asleep last night. I started worrying about my applications. My SAT score is higher than the UVA average. Margot (my sister) got in with just forty more than me. I got a five on the AP US history exam. I’ve known people to get into UVA with less than that. Hopefully my essay gave me a shine. I wrote about my mom and my sisters, and all the ways she’s shaped us-when she was still alive and after she wasn’t. Mrs. Duvall said it was the best she’d read in years, but Mrs. Duvall has always had a soft spot for the Song girls, so who knows. But the thought forced me to go downstairs and measure out ingredients for chocolate chip cookies.

My letter from UVA came last week My letter from UVA came last week. I didn’t find the urge to write it down in here. The words we are sorry to inform you… would not escape my mind. Peter was sure that I would get in. He was waiting for me beside my locker waiting for my results while there were tears in my eyes. Peter wanted to come with me but I forced him to stay because he had an away game for lacrosse. Not only did Peter thought that I would get in, but everybody else. When I got home and lied in my bed and cried. Kitty came in but I ignored her and soon I fell asleep. When I woke up I went downstairs to tell my dad I didn’t get into UVA. Peter snuck into my window last night, he was obviously mad about my rejection for UVA, he was hoping I would get wait-listed. When he lives and i get a text from Margot saying, I’m so sorry, I start crying again.

I got wait-listed at UNC I got wait-listed at UNC. Peter has been trying ways to have me transfer back to UVA after a year in another university. He’s afraid when I’m in another university and he’s in another, our relationship won’t work out. Like my sister Margot’s.
