West Mecklenburg High School PRIDE STARTS WITH YOU!!

What is HAWK P.R.I.D.E.? a positive behavior management process to create a safer and more effective school. a system of clear schoolwide behavioral expectations with consequences and incentives. intervention when you need help. recognition and celebration for your successes!

How Does P.R.I.D.E. Work? All students follow the same set of rules and expectations throughout all areas in the building. These rules and expectations are displayed as a matrix, which is posted in every hallway and classroom. When students follow the rules and expectations, they are recognized. When students do not follow the rules, there are planned consequences to help them get back on track.

What does HAWK P.R.I.D.E do for you? Students are recognized and praised for positive behaviors. gifts, opportunities to participate in special events, school supplies, materials, etc. Students receive interventions to help them refocus their unsuccessful behaviors. teacher-student conference, parent contact, reflections, parent conference, administrative referral.

“PRIDE” Bucks are tracked in Hero

How can you earn “PRIDE Bucks”? When consistent, students will be recognized for appropriate behaviors such as: applying the P.R.I.D.E expectations in all campus settings using positive language with peers and staff waiting patiently in line in the cafeteria using your cell phone only during appropriate times using every day to invest in your graduation Encouraging peers to do the “right” thing

Who awards students with “P.R.I.D.E Bucks”? All staff including: teachers substitute teachers counselors main office/media center staff bus drivers cafeteria staff custodians

Recognitions for PRIDE Bucks may include the following: Ice Cream Passes HAWK Gear Restaurant Coupons Gift Certificates Dance Passes Pizza Delivered School Supplies Bags/Freebies Homework Pass Grade Level Rewards dances, movie nights, etc.

Making West Mecklenburg a better place will have to begin with the mindset of our students. You have to care. You have to want a better environment. YOU HAVE TO HAVE P.R.I.D.E.
