The Ocean Conservancy

History Born in 1972 One of the first non-profit, non-governmental organizations to focus on ocean conservation Began with a single program to protest commercial whaling, but now includes programs for the protection of the entire ocean.

Mission The mission of the Ocean Conservancy is to protect ocean ecosystems and conserve the global abundance and diversity of marine life. The Ocean Conservancy informs, inspires, and empowers people to speak and act for the oceans through science-based advocacy, research, and public education.
