Those selling Big Data Analytics say YES! OF COURSE YOU DO!!! Those selling Big Data Analytics say YES!
AND YOU’RE MISSING OUT ON ALL THIS STUFF!!!
Let’s consider a definition – (Wikipedia to the rescue) Big data is data sets that are so voluminous and complex that traditional data processing application software are inadequate to deal with them. Big data challenges include capturing data, data storage, data analysis, search, sharing, transfer, visualization, querying, updating and information privacy. There are five dimensions to big data known as Volume, Variety, Velocity and the recently added Veracity and Value.
Africa A BIG DATA EXAMPLE Home to 1 Billion Mobile Phones 2009 – Sproxil set up to fight counterfeit drugs market. Home to 90% of the world’s malaria cases. Non-profit organisation Malaria No More needed to track malaria cases Took Sproxil drug data to infer spread. Working with Google to couple this with climate data, migration of people etc. to model malaria spread better.
