Utopia vs. Polyopia

Background Info - 200 miles across the middle part and gradually tapes up towards the two ends -creates a crescent shaped island -originally a peninsula but a 15-mile wide channel was dug by the community's founder King Utopos to separate it from the mainland. -This allows the Utopians to remain as isolated as they want to be.

Traveling Between Cities in Utopia -If you want to travel outside the city you must get a passport which will tell you where you are allowed to travel and for how long. -There are very few laws in Utopia but one that you want to watch out for is traveling without a passport. If someone is found without a passport they are punished.

Foreigners Traveling to Utopia - Destination -Any of the cities within Utopia - Cities are identical, Each divided into four sections, each with its own marketplace with everything you need! - Passport -necessary to avoid slavery - Money -has no value... everything is free! (As long as you contribute to productivity) -Clothing, Jewelry, Accessories -are of no importance, and does not signify importance, based on practically of job or travels of the days unnecessary and impractical

Utopian Etiquette - Everyone eats lunch and dinner in their hall - Eating at home is not thought of as proper - Men sit with their backs to the wall - Women sit on the outside - Children wait on a table or stand in absolute silence - A separate dining room is assigned to nurses and infants - Every lunch and supper begins with a discussion of morals - Lunch is light, dinner is more elaborate - Meals always have music, incense, perfume - People who live too far away from dining halls can eat at home

Background info - 500 acre island - 16,000 undergraduates - sectioned off into 4 parts - all students enjoy the island lifestyle - No cars - President Armstrong controls admissions through a random lottery (everyone used to get admitted, but due to overcrowding it has changed)

On-Campus Destinations - North side of the island is for academics - All majors have equal amounts of buildings and funding

On-Campus Destinations -East side of the island is for housing - No restrictions to where you want to live

On-Campus Destinations - West side is for dining and shopping -Unlimited food, drink and shopping at any hour

On-Campus Destinations - South side is for recreation

Etiquette - Poly Card = passports swipe your card at the teleport pad to move from one section to another - All prospective visiting students have to stand up to eat - People are allowed to eat in dorms, but it is frowned upon - Everyone in Polyopia teleports/walks/bikes - Everyone has to wear as much Cal Poly attire as possible
