Encompassed Land By: Kaho Umehara The Mayan civilization was in current day Honduras and Nicaragua in central america. it was spread out, and some cities were near walter. Mayan extended throughout the southern Mexican state of Chiapas, Tabasco, And Yucatan peninsula. Maya empire was divided into 3 loosely defined zones. Climate By: Peter Iovine The climate in the Mayan region was tropical to desert, which is very similar to todays climate in Mexico.Mostly because the Mayans were in Mexico, but just before it was Mexico.
Terrain By: Julia Mancuso The Mayan terrain is divided into 3 loosely defined zones. They are the southern Maya highlands, the southern (central) Maya lowlands, and the northern Maya lowlands. Southern Maya highlands has a terrain that is elevated and located in the country of Guatemala and the Chiapas highlands. The Chiapas highlands are located in the southernmost state of Mexico known as Chiapas. Also, the southern (central) Maya lowlands are located in Tabasco, the northern Chiapas and most of Brazil and Belize. On these lowlands there are tropical forests and lots of large rivers like the Hondo. Northern Maya lowlands are located in the northern part of Central America. There is not a lot of water in the northern Maya lowlands but can recieve tropical rain fall through May-January at the most.
Did You Know??? By: Merrick Reiss The Mayan people were very good doctors. They used a sacrifice called Blood Sacrifice, but they replaced human blood with the blood of a chicken. The Mayans regularly used hallucinogenic drugs found in plants during religious rituals, but they would also take them during the regular day as painkillers. The mayan people made a very accurate calendar, but their people died off before it was finished. Therefore, people thought the world was going to end on December 21, 2012.
Did You Know??? By: Merrick Reiss The Mayans used a type of Hieroglyphics to record achievements in Mathematics and Astronomy. Cacao nuts were ground into a yummy chocolate drink. Corn was ground into tortillas Used bark of wild fig tree as paper. Instead of shells, Mayans used cacao nuts as currency. If you wanted to know the status of a woman, you would take a look at their hairstyle to find out. Men and women used elaborate tattoo designs all over their bodies. They worshiped the feathered-serpent god Kukulcan.
Impacts on Mayan Civilization By: Peter Iovine The impacts on the mayan life that caused it to fail, is still yet unknown till this day. Was it a disease? Was it an environmental disaster? Climate change? Or was it just an overpopulation? All of these theories are possible.
