Expository Essay Fonts: Calibri Light Writing 101

Brain Dump EXPOSITORY ESSAY Quick Write: List everything you recall about Expository Essays in one minute.

Basic Essay Structure EXPOSITORY Activate prior knowledge quickly. Display anchor chart with basic essay framework with no labels or words. Ask students to draw the essay frame into interactive notebook and to discuss possibilities with partner. Teacher should listen for key terms: Introduction, body paragraphs, conclusion, thesis statement, topic sentences, evidence, etc. Ask for volunteers to discuss the framework. Then, display the image on the next slide to review common language.

Make a provocative statement: Offer an amazing statistic or personal insight
