November 2nd to 6th Mrs. Camarano’s Classes Journals November 2nd to 6th Mrs. Camarano’s Classes

11/2/15 November is here! What do you like most about this month? What do you like the least? ** Remember: 5-7 Sentences **

Rules & Procedures Review Listen when the teacher is talking. (even if what you have to say is really important) Raise your hand to speak. Then, wait your turn. When the teacher is talking, remain seated. Put your name on every paper you turn in. I will be deducting 5 points per assignment. Journals are to be completed right away, and must be 5-7 sentences/items every time. Getting out of your seat is OK-IF it is done responsibly!

11/4/15 – Periods 2, 5, & 7 Who is Freak? (Chapter 1) Answer the following questions: Who is Freak? (Chapter 1) When does Freak move into the duplex down the street from Max? (Chapter1) Describe Max’s bedroom. (Chapter 2) List 3 pieces of information you can infer about Kevin. (Chapter 2) Who is “The Fair Gwen?” Describe her as Max would. (Chapter 2) * NOTEBOOK CHECKS COMING SOON…STANDBY! * (Is your notebook organized? Would you get 100% today?)

11/4/15 – Period 3 Answer the following questions: Explain why you think airplanes are not permitted to fly over the community. Compare your family’s nightly routine to Jonas’s family’s nightly rituals. Identify 3 reasons why someone may be released. Contrast why December is eventful in Jonas’s community and why December is eventful in our society. Which rule is frequently broken? * NOTEBOOK CHECKS COMING SOON…STANDBY! * (Is your notebook organized? Would you get 100% today?)

11/4/15 – Period 3 Answer the following questions: Explain why you think airplanes are not permitted to fly over the community. Which rule is frequently broken? * NOTEBOOK CHECKS COMING SOON…STANDBY! * (Is your notebook organized? Would you get 100% today?)

11/5/15 – Period 2, 5, & 7 Create a list of the ways Kevin and Max appear to be opposites. There are many reasons a person might talk fast, as Gwen did when Max first arrived. Using details from the text, decide why Gwen was speaking so fast.

11/5/15 – Period 3 What type of rules do you agree with in The Giver? Which ones do you disagree about? What rules would you suggest for the community?

11/6/15 – Periods 2, 5, & 7 Predict what would’ve happened if the cop had not been driving by. (Ch.6) We have been given clues about Max’s family. Create a T-Chart. On one side, list the clues from the book. On the other side, list what the clues could mean.

11/6/15 – Period 3 Infer why citizens are only allowed to use bicycles for individual transportation. Also, what implications does this have for travel? What do you think is the true purpose of the daily telling of dreams? Explain how you would feel if you had to report all of your dreams and feelings to your family and the government.

11/3/15 November 3rd is Sandwich Day. Create a unique sandwich in honor of someone you know. Give it a creative name & then describe how to make it.
