Caring for Families. Improving Lives. Leading Change. Integrating Employment Services and Homeless Services by Jackie Charneco Team Coordinator Employment & Adult Education

Agenda Components of our model Staff coordination Successes Funding What we have learned (so far)

Components of Our Model Adapted from WorkFirst by Pine Street Inn, Boston “Anyone is ready for work” philosophy Person-centered, client-directed, strengths-based Built on stages of change theory Wrap around service for 5 housing programs Four years using the WorkFirst model

Components of Our Model: Your Team Housing Stability Case Manager Employment Specialist Participant

Components of Our Model: Employment Specialist & Case Manager Coordination Case Manager + Employment Specialist = Your Team Barrier remediation for families. Have conversations. Use the Toolkit. Connect early. Share invites, share meetings, share notes, share updates, SHARE! Check in biweekly, and, really, whenever you need to.

Successes: Data tells the story Twice as many clients gained two jobs in both 2014 and 2015 as the total # of clients who gained jobs in 2013.

Funding Housing program funds Small local grant money Donors

What we have learned (so far) Old model was ineffective Referral process slowed us down Team work makes the dream work WorkFirst and Housing First go hand in hand Funding can be challenging, but is feasible!
