What is covered during the course? Observational drawing Print making – lino, collagraph, etching, screen printing Painting with different paint media e.g. acrylics, watercolours, inks 3D, relief, clay, modroc Experimenting with mixed media Photography Digital manipulation Critical reference – looking at the work of other artists

Gallery Visits Induction day for yr9 including a trip to Cambridge Botanical Gardens and Art Gallery Art trips in the Spring Term have previously included Amsterdam, Paris, New York and Berlin Visits to galleries e.g. Tate Modern and other major or smaller galleries.

Assessment for GCSE Art courses Coursework (60% of marks) Work covered in year 10 + 11. (including mock exam) Timed Assignment (40% of marks) A theme or title is set by the exam board, such as Forces, Ordinary/Extra-ordinary, Similarities/Differences. Students have approx. 8 weeks planning followed by 2 full days to produce their piece of work based on the theme. An exhibition of the work is held at the end of yr11.

GCSE Art results over the last 4 years %

Progression to A’level Art Grade 6 in Art or Textiles is required in order to continue to A’ level Art Students often follow the A’ level course with a one year Art Foundation course, before their specialised Art degree.
