Unit 8: Solution Chemistry Lesson 1: Solutions and Conductivity

Important Definitions A solution is a homogeneous mixture made up of a solvent and a solute. The solvent exists in the greater quantity, while the solute exists in the lesser quantity. A solvent is saturated with a particular solute if the solvent has dissolved as much of the solute as possible. The solubility of a solute is the maximum amount of it that can dissolve in a given amount of solvent at a given temperature. 10 min

The Conductivity of Aqueous Solutions Predict: What will happen when potassium permanganate (KMnO4) is added to the water? Observe: Record your observations from the demonstration.
