District Administrative Goals: 2018-2019 Board of Education Work Session 9/5/18

Garden City Public Schools Mission Statement The Garden City School District seeks to create an environment for learning which enables each student the opportunity to grow as an individual as well as a group member while striving to achieve the optimal level of academic, social and personal success. Students will thrive in a learning environment that is developmentally appropriate, individualized and challenging. Our goal and responsibility is to help each student develop an enthusiasm for learning, a respect for self and others, and the skills to become a creative independent thinker and problem solver.

Tracking the Goals

Conduct Spotlight Year review in art and make recommendations to Board of Education (CI) Continue initiatives to identify college/career vocabulary including Tier III, content-specific vocabulary (CI, CT) Implement and evaluate Professional Development Plan (PDP), including micro credentials (HR, CI, CT) Select new mathematics text/resources for grades K-5 (BF, CI, CT) Completed negotiations for GCTA, GCAA, and Paraprofessionals (BF, HR)

Continue capital reserve projects and planning (BF, CT) Determine and implement security priorities based on the security review of buildings (BF, CT) Facilitate District-wide STEM Advisory Committee (CI, CT) Update/revise curricula to align with Next Generation Learning Standards(CI, CT) Conduct Spotlight Year curriculum review for STEAM (CI, CT)

Complete negotiations with CSEA (BF, HR) Assess the need for a future bond (BF, CT) Conduct a District demographic study to aid in personnel, budget, and capital planning (HR,BF) Hiring permanent Director of Guidance (HR) Establish a process for systematic review BOE policies (BF, CI, CT, HR)
