Group Presentations

College Applications – How to Prepare Pick your colleges (try to apply to no more than 10) Pick some reach, safety, and target schools Look at all the deadlines, requirements and write them down! Ask for recommendations, start writing any essays Apply for financial aid in the Spring and apply for scholarships now (Use apps like scholly)

College Applications – Credit Transfer & AP If you transfer from community college to a 4- year college, only the latter shows on your degree! Save any and all syllabi from your courses, create a folder and stash them every semester! Think about where you want to transfer before you enroll, it matters! You get one free score report with every test (maximize this!) It costs 15$ per report after the test! Public School- Accept unlimited credit (for score of 3 or above) Private School- Accept limited credit (for score of 4 or 5)

Credit Transfer – Questions to Ask Does the two-year college have a special transfer relationship — often called an articulation agreement — with any four-year colleges? Will the credits I earn be accepted at the four- year colleges I’m considering? What grades do I need to earn in my classes to get credit at the four-year colleges? What’s the minimum GPA I need to maintain to get into the four-year colleges?

College Applications – Some things to know… The money is out there! (JUST LOOK FOR IT!) Remember who you are and why you are there There is help, ask for it! Look for the Multicultural Affairs office, alliances, etc...

Why I Hate School but Love Education https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_ZmM7zPLyI

College Graduation Article – Norms of Circle The person holding the speaking ball is the only one talk at all times Respect People (address opinions not people) Remember that some issues may be serious to those around Be engaged! (Refrain from phone use, sidebars)

College Graduation Article What were some of the surprising statistics that you found in the article? Why do you believe graduation rates are lower for minority students? Was there anything in the article that interested you or sparked some thought? What can we do to begin fixing this?

Unit 4 Test & Progress Report Take a look at test, percentage for each objective should be on your test! [Total out of 80 pts] Fill out the tracker by objective just like last unit, answer the questions on the back about your grade and missing work When you finish with the tracker, staple it to the front of the test and turn it into the blue bin.
