Tractor Pre-Inspection Tailgate Talk Tractor Pre-Inspection With the tractor engine off :  Check shields and guards.  Power take-off (PTO) shield in place?  Are there any leaks?  Are the tires balding?  Adjust the seat so you can easily reach the controls.  Make sure lights work properly.  Use handrails when getting on and off the tractor.  With the tractor engine on:  Are there any unusual noises? If yes, investigate right away.  Are the pedals operating correctly?  Are the brakes working smoothly?  Is the parking brake working?  Is the steering operation functioning correctly?  Driving forward and reverse running smoothly?  Is implement control working?  Are the horn and lights operational? This tool is meant to guide a review discussion based on previous complete and compliant training. Providing only this information will not constitute legal training compliance.
