Project 10: Innovative IoT Applications in Scientific Research and Consumer Market REU Student: Nathalie Domingo Graduate mentors: Kelvin Ly, Kaveh Shamsi, and Orlando Arias Faculty Mentor(s): Dr. Zhang and Dr. Jin Week 8 (July 11 – July 15, 2016) Accomplishments: Figured out a way to map out the data collected Data collected every two minutes: network name, coordinates, security, number of users, and time Have a script that will convert a CSV file into a KML file KML file can be used in Google Maps, Google Earth, and My Maps Creates a point for every data entry and then connects and fills in the coordinates that belong to the same network Created a script that will collect data and put it in a CSV file Issues/problems encountered and solutions (if any): Forwarding the pi’s internet connection to the access point Run 3 commands, could not figure out where to put them to automate Cannot put it in network or rc.local files, had to place it in /etc/profile Plans for next week: Finish GPS project and write report, possibly change data collection script/method
