Tourism in Quebec There are 21 tourist regions within Quebec In Quebec tourist spend an average of 274 per stay. The average length of stay is 2.5 days Quebecers are make up the greatest amount of tourism Other Canadians are the second source of tourism

What regions attract the most tourists Natural attractions draw many tourist each year. They come to enjoy the scenery, participate in sports or spend time in the great outdoors Some tourists are drawn to Quebec by specialized infrastructure which helps attract more people to the region Examples are arenas, Olympic events, museums, or festivals

How is Tourism Developed The difficulty in developing tourism is making sure you develop what attracts people without destroying it To make tourism successful you need several factors: Public support, promotion, efficient transportation and many others Tourism takes a large investment

Is Tourism Beneficial? YES Quebec earns 9 billion per year through tourism it aids many small communities survive and brings jobs to the area The improvements to infrastructure and new leisure amenities that result from tourism also benefit the local community. Tourism encourages the preservation of traditional customs, handicrafts and festivals that might otherwise have been allowed to wane, and it creates civic pride.

Is Tourism Beneficial? No Damage to the landscape: litter, erosion, fires, disturbance to livestock, vandalism. Local goods can become expensive because tourists will pay more. Shops stock products for tourists and not everyday goods needed by locals.  Money generated by tourism does not always benefit the local community, as some of it leaks out to huge international companies, such as hotel chains. Destinations dependent on tourism can be adversely affected by events such as terrorism, natural disasters and economic recession.
