TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAMMES: FACULTY OF HUMAN MOVEMENT SCIENCES one-year master programme Competence-based 70% theory – 30% practice (internship) one day a week face-to-face lecture at university teaching qualification Universities of Applied Science (subjects at Physical Therapy; Physical Training Programmes) 4 V University Library

IMPROVING COURSE BASIC PEDAGOGY - AIMS 2011 Increase competencies to reflect and to provide different levels of written (peer) feedback Experience the pedagogical possibilities of ICT, so student teachers could learn various ways of using ICT in their own classroom as starting teachers; More extensive teaching method ( less face-to-face sessions and more virtual learning activities and coaching)

VIRTUAL ACTION LEARNING IN BASIC PEDAGOGY 2011 BY TEACHER TRAINER: MARIJKE LEIJDEKKERS Learning Materials, Assignments, Learning Activies: in new VLE Sharepoint Knowledge clips: produced by teacher trainers Product: lesson plans based on pedagogical theories Learning Process: (Peer) Reflection & Feedback Cycle Teachers feedback: Face-to- face lectures, VLE Best Practices: Hall of FameReflection & Feedback Cycle

BASED ON EVALUATIONS OF BASIC PEDAGOGY IN 2011: AIMS 2012 Explain Virtual Action Learning more clearly and make the assessment criteria and process more explicit for the student teachers: knowlege clip based on PREZI ON VLE Improve the quality of student teachers substantiation of their choices of applying pedagogical concepts into developing lesson plans: knowlede clip combined with collaborative pre-assignmet on VLE Increase student teachers level on the competencies of making good lesson plans: teacher provides feedback through an interactive webinar

INTERACTIVE WEBINAR: STUDENT QUOTES A new way of teaching, different from the normal way, nice experience and Im saving travel expenses/ costs Nice way (and pleasant that I could sleep long)! Handy way that we immediately/ simultaneously could use our VLE to ask questions!

INTERACTIVE WEBINAR: STUDENT QUOTES Very positive that the aim of this lecture has been realized in such an efficient way! As the rest of our group says, the message was transmitted very clearly, we can go on with improving our lesson plans and it was easy to ask questions. It felt like we were following this lecture as a group, very funny! Excellent way to do it another time this way! Thank you very much for providing nice feedback!

TEACHER TRAINER MARIJKE LEIJDEKKERS: EXPERIENCES & TIPS INTERACTIVE WEBINAR Before the webinar started I was afraid that nobody would be watching and reacting. However through stimulating my students reactions by giving them some short activating tasks they could answer on the VLE during the webinar a nice interaction started. Thereby it was an advantage that I had structured my webinar well by adding category folders on a special discussion board I had created on our VLE before the webinar started. By letting my students adding their questions in de category folders on this discussion board, I was also able to answer the questions I wasn't able to answer during the webinar afterwards.

MORE INFORMATION Article Case Study Article Interactive Webinar: learning-interactiv-webinar learning-interactiv-webinar Knowledgeclip teacher trainer (English) Knowledgeclip All information: (knowledge clips, documents, images: updated on a regular basis) Used user-friendly software to record knowledge clips:

(OPTIONAL SHEET, DURING DISCUSSION): MORE TEACHER TIPS Be sure about what you want to tell before you start recording; Record several short knowledge clips; Record in a room where you can sit alone; Record the whole knowledge clip at once (you can pause the recording as often as you want) to avoid editing afterwards! Use not only PowerPoint as a basis of your knowledge clip, but also PREZI sometimes for a change (especially when you are explaining models) Run statistics of how often/ when students watch clips; If you use a VLE for your course, its more logical that your students can watch the clips also on the VLE. Ensure that videos are available as streaming videos.
