SoftUpdate 3.0.3.1 New features

What’s new in SoftUpdate 3.0.3.1 New Application Launcher (AppCenter for PC) Personal Application Desktop Benchmark statistics Check for minimal requirements to start selected app Environments run-time status check

AppCenter for PC

AppCenter for PC (continue) Supports three modes to find and start applications (“Remote”, “Local”, “Search”). Preserves last selected mode, selected URL, environment and search criteria. Helps easier to find environment and application especially when the large number of environments are in use. Allows to sort and filter applications for selected environment.

AppCenter for PC (continue) Shows additional information per application (e.g. when app was initially installed or updated last time) Allows to delete single unwanted (e.g. outdated) apps or all apps for the whole environment at once. Can switch to different SoftUpdate URL without leaving the AppCenter. Provides shortcuts to start “Personal Application Desktop” and “Benchmark Statistics” Supports personal color theme customization.

Personal Application Desktop The user can open it from SoftUpdate context menu (SCC icon in icon tray).

Personal Application Desktop (continue)

Personal Application Desktop (continue)

Personal Application Desktop (continue) Each user can have customized desktop where only limited number of favorite apps will be visible. The apps on the desktop are represented by uniform tiles. The user can move and re-arranged tiles on the desktop for better personal experience. Optional environment specific highlighters (markers) can help minimize the risk of the user starting and working by accident with wrong application. Shortcut to access benchmark statistics. The personal color theme and desktop background customization.

Benchmark Statistics The user can open or submit Benchmark Statistics at any time directly from SoftUpdate context menu (SCC icon in icon tray).

Benchmark Statistics (continue)

Benchmark Statistics (continue) Mandatory: all PCs will automatically submit HW information and resource utilization (e.g. cpu, memory, disk) each time the PC is rebooted or SoftUpdate service on PC is restarted. Scheduled: if enabled, selected PCs will automatically submit benchmark data to SoftUpdate server every ‘N’ minutes until SU admin disables it. The application launcher provides access for benchmark statistics data associated with the device (PC or Citrix server) it is running on. UMC operator can access benchmark statistics data for all devices.

Minimal Requirements for App startup

Minimal Requirements for App startup (continue) Prevents from staring pre-defined applications on PC, if it does not meet minimal specified HW requirements (e.g. cpu, memory, etc). Multi-level customization (1-app, 2-environment, 3-client, 4-global properties, 5-system defaults) Easy setup via SoftUpdate UMC (Update Management Console)

Environment run-time status check

Environment run-time status check (continue) When applications environment (e.g. LIVE, TEST, UPG, QA, etc) starts or stops there is a lightweight SoftUpdate service that starts or stops along with environment. SoftUpdate server engine periodically queries all registered services via RUP command. If service responds OK then the environment status will be marked as UP. No response from the registered service will mark the environment as DOWN. If Soft Update cannot find registered service for given environment then the status will be set as UNKNOWN.
