Turnaround or Turn it up! September 5, 2013 Objective: Introduction Talking points: Hello my name is… Turnaround or Turn it up!

A Tale of Two Schools Turn it around Turn it up! or Objective: To establish the scope of our clientele and the fact that we are not solely a turnaround division Talking points: Two schools with two very different needs One will be reconstituted and the other wants its third distinction They are using the same service only customized for THEIR needs So whether you want to turn it around or turn it up, our portfolio of services can help get you there Turn it around or Turn it up!

Objective: Anchor our work in the TAIS process and to establish the arrows as a point of entry, or, where a school might be in the cycle Talking points: Our services are built to support the continuous improvement cycle Each school is at a different point developmentally in the cycle and will require customized support that honors their reality Here’s an overview of what we do…

Every Classroom Every Week Data Analysis Needs Assessment Improvement Plan Implement & Monitor Every Classroom Every Week Based on Charles A. Dana Center’s Classroom Walkthroughs for Continuous Improvement iPad application focused on the curriculum, the learners, the instruction, and the learning environment Administrator dashboard and simple, customizable reports Embedded professional development on your campus, for your campus Objective: Start small and where it matters most Talking points: We’ll begin where it matters most – the classroom Point of entry: Schools are clear about their priority instructional practices, but to not have a system in place for monitoring implementation and generating data reports to drive their analysis Walk through bullets

Data Analysis Needs Assessment Improvement Plan Implement & Monitor Pulse On Progress Customized project management support to ensure high-quality implementation of school’s priority improvement efforts Development support for creating quality metrics and observation tools Just-in-time data summaries for leaders and professional learning communities Support for thorough analysis, planning, and communication to stakeholders Objective: Know if it’s getting done and if it’s getting done well. Talking points: No shortage of fabulous plans - we struggle with implementation In PoP, SST staff provide additional capacity for managing current projects while building capacity to manage future projects Entry point is plans are developed, but need to make certain there are targeted and measurable Bullets

Data Analysis Needs Assessment Improvement Plan Implement & Monitor Campus Snapshot Comprehensive examination of the current state of a campus’ systems and processes to support teaching and learning Formative report includes performance and demographic data, campus-wide classroom observations, interviews with stakeholders, and recommendations Facilitated administrative briefing and needs assessment process Additional planning support available Objective: Pitch CS as formative and DR as summative Talking points: Not targeted implementation support, but rather, a whole system well check Entry point: Already implementing the CIP and need to know how the system and stakeholders are responding A great tool to inform mid-course correction

Data Analysis Needs Assessment Improvement Plan Implement & Monitor Data Revolution Summative strategic planning process for all faculty and administrators Facilitated analysis of performance, demographic, perception, and school process data Thorough needs assessment and root cause analysis Support for developing explicit, measurable goals and strategies for Campus Improvement Plan Objective: June is CRITICAL! Talking points: The students are gone and while the experience is fresh on our minds let's get ready for next year Most powerful with a full team Bullets Roll into July with clarity and confidence

Transformative Leadership Institute Data Analysis Needs Assessment Improvement Plan Implement & Monitor Transformative Leadership Institute Professional development series focused on building capacity through targeted leadership actions Five modules include: Envisioning greatness Empowering change Unlocking potential Experiencing excellence Acting on leading and trailing indicators Administrator coaching and support for sustaining the team’s development Objective: This is the glue that holds everything together Talking points: Sustained improvement requires an ever widening circle of those who are invested and leading the improvement efforts Entry point: impacts all elements of the cycle Bullets

A Tale of Two Schools Turn it around Turn it up! or Objective: Emphasize that this is good for all schools Talking points: So whether your this school or that school… Turn it around or Turn it up!
