Helping students to find out about all of their options. Important for finding out more about jobs and courses & support when making key decisions like choosing post 18 options

What do these 4 jobs have in common? They are all Jobs of the Future!! Ask students to come up with links between the 4 jobs. They might come up with the following: All provide a service All benefit from government / public money – i.e the farmer gets money in form of subsidies Work long hours When the jobs of the future comes up use this as an opportunity to explain about how jobs are changing but these 4 jobs will still be in demand, although aspects of the jobs might change as self driving cars / robots / drones start to feature in society.

19 job sectors, 57 sub sectors, 100s of job profiles Show how to use job sectors – students can look at jobs in different sectors or look at jobs that are linked to school subjects or take the job sector quiz if they are unsure what they want to do.

This shows what they can find out about the job and how if students complete the post 16 skills map they can compare their skills with those required by the job. Also – shows them if certain qualifications or subjects are required to do that job
