What is it? A free one-stop website helping 13-19 year olds in the South of England plan their future study & work 350,000+ users in 2017-18 97% of users found the site useful 100s of positive quotes “At first I was unsure on what I wanted to do after school but Careerpilot has enlightened me and helped reassure me.” “It has made me re think my options and once where I thought university was a no go, I am now looking at this.” Explain that Careerpilot is a free website used across the South of England. Helping students to find out about all of their options. Important for finding out more about jobs and courses & support when making key decisions like choosing post 18 options

What are the pathways you can choose at 18? Do you know? What are the pathways you can choose at 18? Intro to the main options at the end of Year 13 – lots of impartial info on each option on careerpilot

What do these 4 jobs have in common? They are all Jobs of the Future!! Ask students to come up with links between the 4 jobs. They might come up with the following: All provide a service All benefit from government / public money – i.e the farmer gets money in form of subsidies Work long hours When the jobs of the future comes up use this as an opportunity to explain about how jobs are changing but these 4 jobs will still be in demand, although aspects of the jobs might change as self driving cars / robots / drones start to feature in society.

Sign in/Register to save your choices But wait, there’s more… Sign in/Register to save your choices Explain that the website can be used to save their choices – they can bookmark pages to come back to later. They can record the jobs that they are interested in etc in Career Tools. The Post 16 Skills Map will show the students the skills that they have got that they can describe on their personal statements / CV’s

A page to show the HE at 18+ section and that students can bookmark these pages as well as watch associated video clips. Useful in finding out more about potential uni courses. Refer to MOOCS – free online courses offered by unis around the world. Great for those considering university.

19 job sectors, 57 sub sectors, 100s of job profiles Show how to use job sectors – students can look at jobs in different sectors or look at jobs that are linked to school subjects or take the job sector quiz if they are unsure what they want to do.

This shows what they can find out about the job and how if students complete the post 16 skills map they can compare their skills with those required by the job. Also – shows them if certain qualifications or subjects are required to do that job

Career Tools - save your research A reminder that each of their choices and results are saved within their Career Tools (as long as they register on the site)

If you have registered before, sign in The first thing you should do is register, then you can save all your choices as you use the site and see them in a report.

Plus – we will always need entrepeneurs
