The Stages of Mitosis Prophase Prophase is the first and longest stage of mitosis. Cell’s chromatin tightens/condenses into chromosomes. Cytokinesis After the two daughter nuclei have formed, cells undergo cytokinesis. In animal cells, microfilaments constrict/pinch off to form two cells.
