English in Action DEAR PARENT/GUARDIAN, ABOUT THE COURSE Visit our German language microsite www.englishinaction.de www.englishinaction.at English in Action DEAR PARENT/GUARDIAN, ABOUT THE COURSE I am writing to let you know that the school has decided to organise a week of intensive English language and exam preparation with the UK-based organization, English in Action (EIA). Length: 5 days Lessons: 30 x 50minute lessons 6 lessons each day and follow the normal school timetable Location: Your school As part of the course the students will focus on the relevant aspects of their particular exam, which may include some or all of the following: 1. TOPIC PRESENTATION – MONOLOGUE Students are required to give a presentation on a given topic. The course will focus on: speaking strategies presentation techniques 2. ROLEPLAY/DISCUSSION – DIOLOGUE Role play practice based around the typical formats used in the exam. This will include: language skill related to opinions agreeing/disagreeing linking words to improving fluency 3. LISTENING Students will practice tasks that are designed to improve their: note taking listening for specifics and gist short answers 3. Modular Option Writing Skills English in Use Reading Skills WHY ARE WE OFFERING THE COURSE? English in Action weeks help students to focus on the skills required for their exams in an intensive way. With an English only environment and qualified native speaker teachers they receive effective exam preparation, which boosts their confidence in speaking and other related skills, so students can reach their full potential. We feel that English in Action provides a very useful, additional support to all of the work that the school has done over the years in getting students ready for those all important final exams.
