Zoe Lancaster Lymm 1m people every 36 hours use healthcare in the UK. A large % use our NHS which currently is costing around 97b to run, which is way over budget, hence why we have seen delays in treatment times increasing year on year. Only place to go with an emergency, but what about when its not am emergency, it might be an illness that is life threatening or just effecting our life style, an illness that might have financial implications, what could a private scheme do to assist. I am independent so impartial advice.

Considerations for Private medical Insurance Access to treatment Choice Caring for the whole family Facilities

Why Private Medical Insurance Cost to a busy family Prompt referral to a consultant • Quick admission to hospital Treatment at a convenient time Choice of healthcare Direct care by a consultant Advanced treatment options High-quality private clinic and hospital accommodation Privacy of an en-suite room Home amenities such as TV Comfort and cleanliness This is why over 60% of all PMI premiums are paid for by companies as value their workforce and want them seen as soon as possible to enable them to return to work healthy and quickly. Many companies advertise that they offer PMI to employees when recruiting to access the best available employees in the market. We live in a high speed world, so with an average waiting list of 8 weeks on the NHS, how quick can the private sector really be????

Speed of access

Choice Where and when to suit and if you want to you can choice with who Drugs - 17 out of 25 cancers will be affected by the changes in the spend on cancer drugs The Cancer Drugs Fund was launched in 2011, following a manifesto pledge by David Cameron, who said patients should no longer be denied drugs on cost grounds, sadly today in 2015only 4 years later this has changed., so what would private medical insurance offer? Will cover biotherapies that are often not approved on the NHS due to cost, these are the drugs that are often life saving, but it doesn’t stop there. Some private medical insurance companies have all calls for cancer or other series conditions taken by nurse led staff, even when policy holders are only at point of making a claim, plus they can help the family also, as a serious condition does more than affect just the person needing treatment.

Caring for the whole family When illness strikes it doesn’t just effect the person, how can we support the whole family. Counselling for family members, even if they are not on cover educating people Providers manage claims now with nurse lead teams, so if you are caring for someone with Dementia, you no doubt will be the one who has the relationship with the provider. Speaking with an expert it that field who has time is invaluable Home help when people come out of hospital

Facilities 1:4 who have PMI are 30/50 year professional people, running busy families, so being able to choose your location and be able to carry on working is often a priority, this is not something you can do in a crowded NHS ward, so what does the PMI section offer

Facilities Private rooms with wifi, family can visit when they want and business doesn’t have to stop. Parents can have accommodation with their children, in a private room with a bed. Anyone slept on the floor mattress at Warrington, I have
