HELPING people inTo their destinY VIA DISC This training is essentially a DISC training. DISC factors: Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Compliance. For preparation: Read and use the book: The Behavioural Blueprint, by Lothar Seiwert and Friedbert Gay. Publisher: Persolog. Calling and Destiny (for this session chapter 2 is important), by Paul Donders. Publisher: Europartners, see http://www.europartners.org/images/resources/Leadership/booklet_europartners_discover_your_calling_and_destiny-web.pdf (also available as download). Watch the instruction video (part 7). Before you start: Make sure everyone has a hand-out they can work with and in which they can write notes. Start: Give everyone a warm welcome.

Goal Get an insight into everyone’s behaviour within certain situations How to use this insight to the benefit of your staff and company How to recognise skills and qualities by observation Bringing people into their destiny and role Explain the theme and goals of today’s session. Europartners

Quotes “It is not about motivating people but helping them work within their abilities.” “Treat people as they are, you make them worse. Treat people as they can be, you make them better.” (Goethe) These quotes are there to make people start to think about our theme. Ask for some responses. Europartners

To keep it fair, you all get the same task: “Climb the tree!" Europartners

It’s about combining strengths and workplace situations

DISC Test and Explanation Europartners Let the participants make the following task and in the end let them do the DISC test. First: Page 12 and page 17 Afterwards: DISC test on page 18 Note the score on page 19 Make a diagram on page 20 When people are ready, they can read their main behavioural style on page 21 and further. They can also read their profile of the web diagram on page 30-34 (this gives a more nuanced picture). Walk by, and be available for questions. Europartners

Motivational environment My destiny / the right place Personal strengths Talents Work By discovering these four fields of your personality, you can get an idea about your optimal place to work. The following slides give participants the opportunity to get an idea about this. You start with the talent assessment. Motivational environment Personal values Europartners

Talent Assessment Dealing with people Dealing with materials/machines 1. Helping 1. Operating machinery/equipment 2. Sympathizing 2. Working with earth and nature 3. Communicating 3. Dealing with technology and electronics 4. Convincing 4. Decorating 5. Solving problems 5. Dyeing and painting 6. Teaching 6. Cooking and baking 7. Leading 7. Treating animals 8. Advising 8. Building / doing needlework 9. Undertaking 9. Performing precision work 10. Mediating 10. Working with computers Search for five items (we would like to keep it simple in this session) you feel most attached to, out of both lists (called: “Talent Assessment”). Use the hand-out that the participants receive! Explanation: Let’s start with talents. Throughout the past thirty-five years, Dr Arthur Miller and Dr Richard Bolks have done extensive research on the so called “core talents” that a person has from birth. They discovered that everyone has about ten of these “core talents”. If I use my core talents, they distinguish themselves by highly motivating me intrinsically (from the inside). For example, one of my core talents is “to develop concepts”. If I have been able to work on a concept for three hours, I feel fully charged. I am energised because for three hours I was constantly and intrinsically able to use one of my “core talents”. You can imagine what happens if I am able to organize my work in such a way that I can use my unique core talents for 50 percent of my time. I will be constantly positively charged, I will go to work with great joy and I will still be fit as I go home in the evening. A burn-out would never happen. It is easy to see how immediately valuable it is to discover your own set of core talents. In a following scheme you will find a summary of forty-eight basic talents that belong to A. Miller and R. Bolks. Which of these talents give you energy when you use them? Europartners

Talent assessment Dealing with information In the field of creativity 1. Structuring 1. Acting 2. Calculating 2. Making music 3. Logical thinking 3. Sports 4. Investigating 4. Dancing 5. Organizing 5. Drawing and painting 6. Improving 6. Creative thinking 7. Strategic thinking 7. Writing 8. Developing concepts 8. Photographing 9. Judging 9. Design 10. Integrating 10. Visual design Europartners

By means of the DISC test (www.persolog.nl) you are able to discover about ten unique personality strengths and ten unique motivating circumstances. In the following scheme you will find a summary.
