Types of Allusions In Fahrenheit 451

Casual Reference Recalls a reference, but only in a general sense, and, therefore is relatively unimportant (Irwin). (Like an inside joke)

Example Walking into a room of people and greeting the first person you see with, “How YOU doin’?”

Single Reference Recalls a specific reference Provides an understanding that gives the reader an additional perspective to the main text (Dufresne)
