1 John 5 Chapters
1 John: Fellowship Barometer
1 John 1:1-4 “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. And we proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ.”
1 John 1:6-7; 5:13 “If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in darkness we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he himself is the light, we have fellowship with one another…” (1:6-7) “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” (5:13)

Know God: (1) obey his commands and do not continue in sin (2:3; 3:6), (2) love others (4:8), and (3) listen to the truth (4:6). Live in God and have His Spirit: (1) obey his commands and do not continue in sin (3:6, 24), (2) love one another (4:12-13), (3) confess Jesus as the Son of God (4:15).
