Presentation transcript:

What is SB 1070? Arizona's law orders immigrants to carry their alien registration documents at all times and requires police to question people if there's reason to suspect they're in the United States illegally.

Who are the Minutemen? The Minuteman Project is an activist organization started in April 2005 by a group of private individuals in the United States to monitor the United States – Mexico border's flow of illegal immigrants. The Minuteman Project describes itself as "a citizens' Neighborhood Watch on our border", and has attracted media attention to illegal immigration.

Quickwrite: SB 1070 In at least a half a page, explain how you feel about SB 1070. Do you feel that the law is fair? Why/why not? Do you feel that the Minutemen and other groups who seek to uphold the law as vigilantes should be doing so? Why/why not?
