Why are People Living Longer? Medical care has improved and medicines have become more advanced. The NHS in the UK provides free healthcare to everyone which means the treatment rates for cancer and other life threatening conditions has saved lives.

Why are People Living Longer? Increased leisure and recreation time. Workers now regularly have time off and time to complete their hobbies and pass times.

Why are People Living Longer? Improved knowledge about the importance of a balanced diet and regular exercise. This includes massive uptake in people attending gyms.

Why are People Living Longer? Improved living standards and quality of life. The average wage in the UK is globally very high and currently £25,000. This means people can have high living standards which ensures people live longer. But what does this specifically mean people can afford?

Why are People Living Longer? In the UK the proportion of people retired will grow from 20% in 2000 to 40% by 2040. This has meant scientists are able to help people live longer e.g supplements, services and treatments.

Why are People Living Longer? There is also health and safety laws and food safety regulations which have helped people live longer. This has helped people stay safe. What laws can you think of?
