Planning Meetings with the local ACLO’s who have been trained in this program (2 meetings) Number of meetings with the Principal and Aboriginal education team Meetings with the exec team, teacher’s and mentor that will be facilitating . Time off class to make the program and resources Reiby Aboriginal Community Consultative Group

Program Outline/Aim 10 week Cultural program for Aboriginal students Linking students with local male Aboriginal role-models Key topics: Overview & ground rules Connecting to country Self-Esteem Goal setting Time management Conflict resolution Relationships Leadership Career Celebration / Award ceremony * The program is to assist students with: a strong sense of identity and belonging, becoming skilled decision makers, having high expectations of themselves, building positive relationships and leadership skills & to connect with their Aboriginal heritage positively

Program Outcomes To participate in this program the students will: Have a positive outlook on their culture Re-engage in school curriculum Gain a strong sense of cultural knowledge Be able to make better decisions Gain strategies to assist with building healthy/positive relationships Be able to set goals for the future Be proud of their achievements We believe that we will: help the students on their journey to develop life skills and identify and connect with their culture while encouraging the boys to engage with school. The program involves Aboriginal men from the local community providing advice, education and their stories on being successful and proud Aboriginal men

Running of BRO-SPEAK Each facaulty will designate 1 male staff member to facilitate with Rhett (Aboriginal mentor) Guest speaker each week 3 sessions in one day 10 week program Start Term 1, 2014 (week 3) Day: TBC

FACILITATOR & MENTORS Facilitators/teachers that have been asked to be apart of the program Rhett – Aboriginal Mentor Paul – Slattery school facilitator Looch – Whitten school facilitator Ernie – Warby School facilitator

Incorporating the 8 Ways of Aboriginal Learning In all lessons and aspects of the program the 8 Ways of Aboriginal Learning has been implemented
