Conflict/ Resolution Unit: Learning Target: I can identify different types of conflict. I can recognize how conflict drives the plot of a story. Literary Conflict Internal vs. External Conflict Everyday Conflict

Literary Conflict Definition: Any struggle between opposing forces; Usually the main character against some other force.

Literary Conflict- Two Types •External – conflict that happens outside the character •Internal – conflict occurring on the inside; usually in the mind

Man vs. Society A character struggles against laws or beliefs of a group This includes characters that fight against or push back on the rules. Examples: The Hunger Games The Giver
