CHARACTERIZATION Week 4 Day 2

COMPARING CHARACTERS LEARNING TARGET I CAN COMPARE THE TRAITS AND CHARACTERISTICS OF TWO CHARACTERS USING A GRAPHIC ORGANIZER.

COMPARING CHARACTERS SIMILARITIES TRAITS OR CHARACTERISTICS THAT ARE THE SAME ABOUT 2 CHARACTERS DIFFERENCES TRAITS OR CHARACTERSICTICS THAT ARE DIFFERENT ABOUT 2 CHARACTERS

GRAPHIC ORGANIZER

COMPARING CHARACTERS LETS COMPARE TWO CHARACTERS FROM OUR NOVEL, TUCK EVERLASTING ON YOUR GRAPHIC ORGANIZER WE ARE GOING TO COMPARE: MILES TUCK AND JESSE TUCK

LETS TALK FIRST ABOUT HOW EACH OF THESE CHARACTERS ARE DIFFERENT SERIOUS PLAYFUL MILES TUCK JESSE TUCK

NOW LETS DISCUSS HOW EACH OF THE CHARACTERS ARE THE SAME THEY BOTH:

CHARACTERIZATION ANALYZE CHARACTER RELATIONSHIPS WEEK 4 DAY 3

TAKE IT FURTHER NOW THAT WE HAVE COMPARED THE TRAITS AND CHARACTERISTICS OF MILES AND JESSE TUCK, LETS ANALYZE THEIR RELATIONSHIP. HOW DO JESSE AND MILES INTERACT WITH EACH OTHER? WHAT DOES THIS TELL US ABOUT THE CHARACTERS? IN ORDER TO ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS, WE WILL MAKE INFERENCES BASED ON WHAT WE HAVE READ AND WHAT WE ALREADY KNOW

MILES AND JESSE’S RELATIONSHIP FIRST, LETS FIND A SPOT IN THE BOOK WHERE THE CHARACTERS INTERACT WITH EACH OTHER. LETS GO TO PAGE 42 IN OUR TUCK EVERLASTING BOOK. LETS READ FROM PAGE 42 TO MID PAGE 43, STOP AT “NOW BOYS” SAID MAE.

MILES AND JESSE’S RELATIONSHIP HOW DO THE BOYS TALK TO ECH OTHER? BASED ON THIS EXCERPT, HOW ARE MILES AND JESSE DIFFERENT? SAME? JESSE CALLS MILES A PARSON, WHY? WHAT DOES THIS REVEAL ABOUT HOW JESSE VIEWS HIS BROTHER?

CONTINUED BASED ON THE WAY THAT JESSE AND MILES ARE TALKING ABOUT LIVING FORVER, WE UNDERSTAND THAT THEY HAVE VERY DIFFERENT VIEWS. ON PAGE 39, MILES MENTIONS THAT HE WAS MARRIED WITH KIDS, AND JESSE CHIMES IN WITH “IM GLAD I NEVER GOT MARRIED.” WHAT DOES THIS REVEAL ABOUT THESE CHARACTERS? WHY DO YOU THINK MILES IS LESS HAPPY ABOUT LIVING FOREVER?
