Remember: Do Now's are INDEPENDENT and QUIET exercises. Thank you  Welcome! May 4th, 2018 Friday Do Now Get out your weekly Bell Ringer sheet and begin working on Friday’s assignment. Once the bell rings, you will have five minutes to find and label the examples of figurative language. Remember: Do Now's are INDEPENDENT and QUIET exercises. Thank you 

Wendy couldn’t wait until she would be back home with her parents. © Presto Plans Read the paragraph below and find examples of metaphor, simile, onomatopoeia, personification, oxymoron and/or alliteration. The door creaked as Missy and Wendy opened it to reveal their apartment. It was no mansion, but it was all they could afford to sublet. The walls, lined in a random patterned wallpaper, looked completely depressed. Cobwebs embraced the light fixtures, and the dirt brown floors were in a great deal of distress. The landlord, like a prison guard, showed them to the cells that were their bedrooms. Wendy exhaled a deep sigh as she realized her apartment was a black hole. While it would only be a few weeks, Wendy couldn’t wait until she would be back home with her parents.

“Robot Dreams” Today, we’re going to listen to the audio book (and read along) to an Isaac Asimov story titled “Robot Dreams.” What is especially cool about Asimov is that he came up with the concept of robots with artificial intelligence before it was even invented. Asimov was obsessed with sci-fi’s favorite question: “What does it mean to be human?” And, by extension, he wanted to know: “Can a robot with artificial intelligence be considered human?” Link to audiobook: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tv-nmzz11xQ

“Robot Dreams” Now that we’ve read the text, your job will be to respond to the analysis questions on your handout in a Google doc titled “Robot Dreams” that you share with my email: lanea@jenningsk12.us. If you finish early and would like some extra credit, in the same document, you have two choices: either write a continuation of the story OR write a new story set in the same universe. The amount of extra credit you receive will depend on the amount of effort you put forth into the assignment. Impress me! 
