HTHS240-Final Exam Zenobia Ursery

This meeting is to explain the changes of our filing system. MEMO February 23, 2018 1:00pm This meeting is to explain the changes of our filing system.

AGENDA This meeting is to explain why we are changing to electronic records. This change will be sufficient and economical for our company. These changes will effect all staff members that has to access patient information.

Impact for Patients Patients will now be able to access their records and now will have say over where and who can access their medical records.

Registration Department The Registration Department don’t have to worry about going through a lot of files to access patient records. This will save the Registration Department time on registering the patient because all records will be electronically now.

Other Employees Within the Facility Other specialists, nurses, and doctors can now just look up the patient record over the computer and also communicate through the system before doing any procedures to a patient.

Benefits Save money for the facility Paper files are illegible and document can’t be shared Easier to retrieve patient data Faster retrieval of lab or x-ray results EHR will have a electronic problem summary list

Benefits Reasons for changing over is that the facility can save lots of money within the facility. Paper files are illegible and the document cannot be electronically shared with other computers and systems. It is easier to retrieve patient data. Faster retrieval of lab or x-ray results. EHR will have an electronic problem summary list that outlines a patient’s major illnesses, surgeries, allergies, and medications.

Security You will always know who has accessed patient’s records with the security measured that will be placed. You will have to use your badge and security code to access all files in the system.

Solving Problems If a patient need service done they will be required to sign a statement releasing all medical records and giving permission to render services by a physician or nurse. This will eliminate all problems in the facility and alleviate mistakes in the facility.

HIPPA Secure electronics access to health data and to remain in compliance with privacy regulations set by HHS Provides continuous health insurance coverage for workers Combating abuse, fraud, and waste in health insurance and health care

Conclusion These are the reasons for switching over to electronic medical records from paper medical records. Let us merge over gracefully and you all have a productive day.
