5 Members of the Body (Romans 12:1-2)

The Tongue Whoever guards his mouth and tongue Keeps his soul from troubles. Prov 21:23 (NKJV) A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, But perverseness in it breaks the spirit. Prov 15:4 (NKJV) She opens her mouth with wisdom, And on her tongue is the law of kindness. Prov 31:26 (NKJV)

The Tongue By long forbearance a ruler is persuaded, And a gentle tongue breaks a bone. Prov 25:15 (NKJV) If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one's religion is useless. James 1:26 (NKJV)

The Ear My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Prov 4:20 (NKJV) Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise, And apply your heart to my knowledge; Prov 22:17 (NKJV) Apply your heart to instruction, And your ears to words of knowledge. Prov 23:12 (NKJV)

The Ear Then he read from it in the open square that was in front of the Water Gate from morning until midday, before the men and women and those who could understand; and the ears of all the people were attentive to the Book of the Law. The Eyes I have made a covenant with my eyes; how then could I gaze at a virgin? Job 31:1 (ESV) Whoever has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he shares his bread with the poor. Prov 22:9 (ESV) I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? Psalms 121:1 (ESV)

The Eyes The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, 23  but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! Matt 6:22-23 (ESV) to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me. Acts 26:18 (NKJV)

The Feet To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. Luke 1:79 (KJV) And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! Romans 10:15 (KJV) And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Eph 6:15 (KJV)

The Feet See Hebrews 10:26-29 I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. 2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. Psalms 40:1-2 (KJV) He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Psalms 121:3 (KJV)

The Hands Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it. 28 Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee. Prov 3:27-28 (KJV) Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil. Prov 4:27 (KJV) A wise man’s heart inclines him to the right, but a fool’s heart to the left. 5 Members of the Body The children of God are to be wholly devoted to following Him, in EVERY aspect of our lives! Let us all seek and strive for the renewal of our minds, continually; devoting ourselves more fully to God. We have looked at “5 Members of the Body” to impress upon our hearts the fact that God demands our all - physically, mentally, and spiritually.

5 Members of the Body Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38 (NKJV) And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.' Acts 22:16 (NKJV) There is also an antitype which now saves us--baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ 1 Peter 3:21 (NKJV)
