Chapter 7: Chromosome 7 DNA Sequence Chromosome 197,894 bp Name of Protein 7 Name of Gene Cystic Fibrosis CFTR transcription Amino acid sequence mRNA 250,188 aa translation Cytoplasm A Cell Nucleus What does this protein make up or do? Progressive, lifelong condition in which the glands that produce waste; such as mucus, sweat and intestinal secretions wouldn’t function properly. Condition/Disease Rheumatoid Arthritis

Description of Rheumatoid arthritis Rheumatoid Arthritis is commonly known for its persistent inflammatory disorder that affects the small joints of the hands and feet. Redness on the exterior part of the joints. Commonly on the wrists, knees, elbows etc. It also causes fatigue and joint tenderness in the body. Joint pain, joint warmth, and it also, can sometimes, affect both parts of the body, symmetrically. Unlike osteoarthritis; which tears when the joints are overly used, R.A affects the lining of the joints. Causing painful swelling that can eventually turn into bone erosion, if not treated.

Description of Rheumatoid arthritis Who is affected? Anyone, but the following have a higher risk: Women have the higher risk in being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. People between the ages of 40-60. If a family member had rheumatoid arthritis, then there will be a higher risk of having the disease/condition. Risks of other diseases/conditions. Being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis can also have high risk in having other chronic diseases/conditions. Researcher: LA, BF
