Staying hydrated is important for our health and wellbeing KEEPING HYDRATED Staying hydrated is important for our health and wellbeing Water is a basic nutrient of the human body and is critical to human life. Good hydration can assist in preventing or treating ailments such as: Memory problems Management of Diabetes Constipation Dizziness Heart Disease Poor oral health Kidney stones Pressure ulcers/skin conditions Low blood pressure Urinary infections & incontinence

KEEPING HYDRATED…cont. Common signs of dehydration are: Skin that has less elasticity than normal Not passing urine Urine that has an odour Urine being dark in colour Sleepiness Headaches Impatience Lack of concentration Try to drink little and often or at least once an hour. Current government guidelines suggest 6-8 glasses of water (about 1.2 litres) a day.
