Presentation transcript:

Our Environment Through brainstorming on the different images of environments, children discuss and clarify those environments that are most suitable for plant growth Activity Type: Discussion Describe this environment. What part of the world is Guzzler in? Describe the weather? Is Guzzler warm or cold? What season is it? How do you know? Does rain fall in this environment? Is there sunshine? What life forms do you see? Do you think there are other life forms that you cannot see? Are there any plants growing? Has a crop been cut and harvested? Is this a good environment for plant growth? Why do you think so?

Questions for Discussion: Describe this environment. What plants are growing? What has been cut and harvested? How will these harvested bales be used? Will they provide energy for humans? For what will they provide energy? Are there still plants growing? Describe the weather? Does rain fall in this environment? How do you know? What life forms do you see? Do you think there are other life forms that you cannot see? Is this a good environment for plant growth? Why? (Soil, sunshine, suitable temperature, water not visible but clear from growth and green grass)

Questions for Discussion: Describe this environment. What part of the world is it? How do you know? Describe the climate? Does rain fall in this environment? Is there sunshine? Does the sun shine all year? Is there any daylight/sunshine during winter? What life forms do you see? Do you think there are other life forms that you cannot see? How do you know? Are there any plants growing? Why not? Is this a good environment for plant growth? (No soil, dark all day in winter, very cold temperature)

Questions for discussion: Describe this environment. What part of the world is it? Describe the weather? Does rain fall in this environment? Is there sunshine? During what times of the year does the sun shine? Is there any daylight/sunshine during winter? Does rain fall? Justify your answer. What life forms do you see? Do you think there are other life forms that you cannot see? How do you know? Are there lots of plants growing? Why not? How do the cacti survive? Is this a good environment for plant growth? (No soil, no rain, very hot temperature)

Questions for Discussion: Describe this environment. What plants are growing? Does rain fall in this environment? How do you know? Is there sunshine? How do you know? Do you see any other life forms? Do you think there are other life forms that you cannot see? Are crops planted here? Justify your answer? Is this a good environment for plant growth? Why?

Four scenarios - sort from the most suitable to least suitable environment for plant growth A is most suitable D is least suitable Allow for debate on whether the harvest environment or the cloudy/sunshine environment is most suitable.
